Greenup Lions Club Pancake Breakfast-on Main Street in front of the Lion's Club hamburger wagon. Pancakes are $3. Seniors eat free!

Craft, Food and Business Booths Open.

Opening Ceremonies-Greenup Mayor Lundie Meadows will
begin the festivities by welcoming everyone to Greenup. Doug Collins will give the invocation. The Greenup County High School
Junior ROTC Marine Corps will do the presentation of the flags. Blaine
Roberts will sing The National Anthem. This years Grand Marshal, Lewis D. Nicholls, will be introduced by Greenup Business Association President
Cathie Shaffer. Also, the winners of the Greenup Woman's Club Window
Decorating Contest will be announced. Blaine Roberts will sing My Old
Kentucky Home. Greenup County Judge Executive Robert W "Bobby" Carpenter will memorialize Old Fashion Days founding member Anna Miller. Blaine Roberts will then sing Amazing Grace after which Bobby Carpenter will officially open the festivities.

Wurtland Middle School Chorus-directed by Kathy Saltsman.

Helping Hands Open House-Helping Hands will be having an open house all three days of the festival. Guided tours will be offered with refreshments, information about what the organization does and volunteer opportunities. Stop by their booth and bring a can of food to be registered for a door prize to be given away Saturday at 12:00pm.

The Greenup County Health Department will be providing flu shots in the kitchen area of the Greenup County Courthouse.

Parade of Wurtland Elementary School Students-dressed in old fashion costumes. Students will begin walking from the Rhine Bridge to downtown Greenup and will sing on the steps of the Greenup County Courthouse.

The National Champion Greenup County High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders under the direction of Candi Berry.

2:00pm

Old Fashion Spelling Bee-sponsored by the Greenup County Retired Teachers Association. The first place winner will receive a $100 savings bond.

Cake Walk-help support Old Fashion Days and maybe take home your favorite cake.

Registration for 5K Run-sponsored by Firm Fitness at Bellefonte Pavilion. Registration will be at the Greenup Christian Church Family Life Center. Participants may pre-register through October 1st for $15 by calling the OLBH CareLine at (606) 833-CARE (2273). After that date, the fee is $20.

 

6:30pm

Old Fashion Days 5K Run begins in front of the courthouse. Tee-shirts will be given to the first 150 participants. Awards will be presented at Greenup Christian Church following the race.

Kiddie Tractor Pull Registration-inside the Courthouse. There will be three classes: Class One: 30-40 pounds, Class Two: 41-50 pounds, Class Three: 51-75 pounds. Children will be weighed at the time of registration. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

Eastern Star Bean Dinner in the Masonic Lodge on Washington Street. Soup beans, cornbread, kraut with weiners and hot dogs are on the menu.

Kiddie Tractor Pull-sponsored by Greenup Old Tractors Engines and Machinery (G.O.T.E.M.) on Main Street in front of the courthouse. The adult division will immediately follow this event.


Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will conduct free blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screenings in the courthouse.


Old Fashion Quilts on display in the Greenup County Courthouse Fiscal Courtroom and will remain there through Saturday. Sponsored by the Greenup County Quilt Guild. Raffle tickets are being sold on a quilt to be given away. Tickets are only $1.00. The winner will be announced on Saturday on the stage.

Registration for Pizza Eating Contest-inside the Courthouse. Sponsored by Russell Pizza Hut. There will be three age groups with ten contestants each. Children must have a release form signed by a parent/guardian. Age groups are 6-12 years old, 13-17 years old and 18 & up. Winners in each age group will receive a free pizza a month for a year.

Baby Pageant Registration-in the courthouse. The fee is $20. Categories include: 3-11 months boys/girls, 1 year old boys/girls, 2 year old boys/girls, 3 year old boys/girls, 4 year old boys/girls. Five year old boys/girls compete for the title of Little Mister/Little Miss Old Fashion Days. Dress will be Sunday’s Best. Contestants can pre register for $15 by October 3rd. Applications may be picked up at both Stultz Pharmacy locations, and at the Greenup City Building. Contact Mary Kay McGinnis-Ruark at 606-922-8283 for more information.

Costume Contest Registration-in the courthouse hallway. This contest is for all ages and there is no entry fee. Categories include: Baby Contest (under 1), Baby Contest (1-2), Best Girl (3-5), Best Boy (3-5), Best Girl (6-9), Best Boy (6-9), Best Girl (10-14), Best Boy (10-14), Best Girl/Woman (15 & up), Best Man/Boy (15 & up), and Best Dressed Family. Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each category.

Old Fashion Days Art Show in the Greenup United Methodist Church. There are four adult classes, oil/acrylics, water colors, pencil/charcoal and mixed medium. All four classes are also open to high school students. High school student art will be judged in all four classes with first, second and third place ribbons awarded and a $25 prize for Best of Show. Artists may enter up to six works for one $6 entry fee. A $25 first place prize will be awarded in each of the adult categories. The Best of Show in the Adult Division will receive $75. Winners of the Mayor’s Choice, OFD President’s Choice and People’s Choice categories will receive ribbons. Children’s art will be judged in pencil, water colors, and crayon. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded and $10 for Best of Show. All artists must bring their own easel. Antique Car Show Registration-sponsored by the Greenup Lions Club will take place on Main Street. The entry fee is $10. Trophies will be awarded to the Top 50 vehicles and Best of Show. Car plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. For more information, call Jim Archey at 606-473-5568.

Greenup Old Fashion Days Free Health Fair at the Greenup Christian Church Life Center. Stop in and get it all done at once - all your yearly checks, all the newest information and a FREE flu shot. There will be many different agencies on hand providing numerous health screenings and health information.

Entries Accepted for the Apple Pie Baking Contest-in the kitchen area of the courthouse. Pies will be judged on overall appearance, crust, flavor and texture. This contest is for adults aged 18 & up. 10:00-2:00 Ohio Valley Appalachian Writers Guild will host a book signing by local authors in the meeting room of the Greenup Public Library. Information on the guild will also be available.


Registration for the Eighth Annual American Classic Motorcycle Show-hosted by Light Bearers Ministries in the Greenup United Methodist Church parking lot on Main Street. The registration fee is $15 per motorcycle. The first 100 participants will receive a free T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded for the following classes: American/Metric Cruiser, Touring, Trike, Sport, Custom, Vintage, Kids class 12 & under, and Peoples and Members Choice. Door Prizes!!

Old Fashion Days Shoot-Out. The conclusion of the live western drama in front of the courthouse. This event is sponsored by Town Hill Motors.

3:00pm

Grand Parade begins to assemble on East Main Street between Greenup First Baptist Church and the fairgrounds. To participate call Mattie Coldiron at 473-6371 or Joey Coldiron at 473-5823. Judge Lewis D. Nicholls is this year’s Grand Marshal. The theme for the best float is The Roaring 20’s. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top floats in each category. Categories include: church groups, civic organizations, school organizations and commercial businesses. Winners will be announced on the stage after the parade. The Old Fashion Days Parade begins at 4:00 and is sponsored by People's Bank.

Talent Show Registration-Final registration for talent show. All contestants should meet at the Old Fashion Days tent in front of the courthouse to draw numbers. The youth division is open to ages 5-17 while the adult competition is open to those 18 & up. Grand Prize winner in each category will receive $500. Second place winner in each division will receive $200 and third place $50. Entry fee is $25. Applications may be picked up at Greenup City Hall. Late entries will be accepted at the OFD tent in front of the courthouse during the festival until 6:30 Saturday, October 8th. Talent Show begins at 7:30.
