Thursday, October 1st

Greenup Lions Club Pancake Breakfast-at the Greenup Senior Citizens Center. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the door. Seniors eat free.

Craft, Food and Business Booths Open.

Opening Ceremonies-Greenup Mayor Donna Hewlett will begin the festivities by welcoming everyone to beautiful downtown Greenup. Anne Stephens will sing The National Anthem and My Old Kentucky Home. Pastor Tom Stephens will give the invocation. The Greenup County High School Junior ROTC Marine Corps will do the presentation of the flags and this years Grand Marshal, Charles“Charley” Osborne, will be introduced by Greenup BusinessAssociation President Cathie Shaffer. Also, this years winners of the Greenup Woman's ClubWindow Decorating Contest will be announced. A special presentation will be given by Greenup County Judge Executive Robert "Bobby" Carpenter to special Old Fashion Days vendors as well as a dedication ceremony unveiling the courthouse clock in memory of Dr. Charles “Doc” Conley. Amemorial tribute will be presented by Larry Eastham of the Order of Eastern Star for the late Jesse Leadingham.

Unloading begins for the Greenup Old Tractors Engines and Machinery Show in the field behind the Kentucky Farm Bureau building and will continue through 12 Noon on Saturday. There will be daily games (check for times and events).

 Wurtland Middle School Chorus-directed by Kathy Saltsman.

 Helping Hands Open House Helping Hands will have an open house all three days of the festival. Stop by their booth to register for door prizes. There will also be a FREE gift with food donation, refreshments, and you can tour the center and see what they offer. Also, enter your youth organization in the “Amazing Food Race” to he held Saturday at 12:00pm with prizes for the winning team! Call 473-6916 for more information.

 Health Screenings-The Greenup County Health Department will be in the kitchen of the courthouse and will be providing health screenings, and health education information. Flu shots will be available!

Parade of Wurtland Elementary School Students-dressed in old fashion costumes. Students will begin walking from the Rhine Bridge to downtown Greenup and will sing on the steps of the Greenup County Courthouse.

1:30pm

Penmanship Contest-See who has the best penmanship in the three county schools. Preliminary competition will be between the 5th graders in each school district within the county at their respective schools with the finals held live on the stage. Savings bonds will be awarded to the top three students, sponsored by Greenup County Clerk Pat Hieneman.

1:30-2:30pm

Baby Pageant Registration-in the courthouse. The fee is $20. Categories include: 3-11 months boys/girls, 1 year old boys/girls, 2 year old boys/girls, 3 year old boys/girls, 4 year old boys/girls. Five year old boys/girls compete for the title of Little Mister/Little Miss Old Fashion Days. Dress will be Sunday's Best. Contestants can pre-register for $15 by September 25th. Applications may be picked up at Stultz Pharmacy in Greenup & Flatwoods and at the Greenup County News-Times. Contact Mary Kay McGinnis-Ruark at 922-8283 for more information.

Old Fashion Spelling Bee-sponsored by the Greenup County  Retired Teachers Association. The first place winner will receive a $100 savings bond.

Old Fashion Days Baby Pageant-on the stage.

4:30pm

Pizza Eating Contest registration-inside the Greenup County Courthouse. Sponsored by Russell Pizza Hut. There will be three age groups with ten contestants each. Children must be accompanied by an adult and must sign a release form. Age groups are 6-12 years old, 13-17 years old and 18 & up. Winners in each age group will receive a free pizza a month for a year!

Registration for 5-K Run-sponsored by the Human Motion Vitality Center at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Registration will be at the Greenup Christian Church Family Life Center. Participants may pre-register through September 24th for $15 by calling the OLBH CareLine at (606) 833-CARE (2273). After that date, the fee is $20.

6:30pm

Old Fashion Days 5K Run Begins-in front of the Greenup County Courthouse. Tee-shirts will be given to the first 150 participants. Awards will be presented at the Greenup Christian Church following the race.

Wizards of Dance Cloggers will do some lively steppin’. Stop by and see this wonderful group of performers in front of the stage area.

The Greenup Genealogy & Historical Society will be on the porch of the Greenup County Public Library to inform people about genealogy. Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will conduct free blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol screenings and body fat analysis in the Greenup County Courthouse.

Old Fashion Quilts on display in the Greenup County Courthouse Fiscal Courtroom and will remain there through Saturday. Sponsored by the Greenup County Quilt Guild. Raffle tickets are being sold on a quilt to be given away. Tickets are only $1.00. The winner will be drawn on Saturday.

Ugliest Truck Contest-Bring your ugliest or dirtiest pickup truck downtown and win $50. Truck must be driveable! Enter town at Washington Street from US 23 by KY Farm Bureau and park right in front of the stage for judging. Sponsored by Imel’s Greenhouse.

Kiddie Tractor Pull registration - inside the Greenup County Courthouse. There will be three classes: Class One: 30-40 pounds, Class Two: 41-50 pounds and Class Three: 51-75 pounds. Children will be weighed at the time of registration. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

4:00pm

Children's Big Wheel Race-sponsored by WLGC. The race is open to boys and girls ages three to five years old and will be held on Main Street in front of the courthouse. Children must bring their own big wheel or other 3 wheeled toy. The winner of each division will win a bicycle.

4:30pm

Kiddie Tractor Pull-sponsored by the Greenup County Farm Bureau and the Greenup Old Tractors Engines and Machinery Club on Main Street in front of the courthouse. Prizes donated by Colegrove Temco will be given to the winners in each age category. The adult division will be immediately following this event.

5:30pm

Checker Tournament-on the second floor of the Greenup County Courthouse. Two classes: Youth (15 & under) and Adult (16 & up). A ribbon will be awarded to the top checker player in the county in each age group.

Costume Contest registration - in front of the stage. This contest is for all ages. Categories include: Baby Contest (under 1), baby Contest (1-2), Best Girl (6-9), Best Boy (6-9), Best Girl (10-14), Best Boy (10-14), Best Girl/Woman (15 & up), Best Boy/Man (15 & up), Best Dressed Family, Little Miss Old Fashion Days (3-5) and Little Mister Old Fashion Days (3-5). Ribbons will be awarded to the winner in each category with crowns awarded to Little Miss/Mister. Call Beverly Rowe-Conley for more information at 571-9662.

Old Fashion Days Art Show in the Greenup Methodist Church. There are four classes, oil/acrylics, water colors, pencil/charcoal and mixed medium. All four classes are also open to high school students. High school student art will be judged in all four classes with first, second and third place ribbons awarded and a $25 prize for the Best of Show. Artists may enter up to six works for one $6 entry fee. A $50 first place prize will be awarded. The Best of Show in the Adult Division will receive $75. Winners of the Mayor's Choice, OFD President's Choice and People's Choice categories will receive ribbons. Children's art will be judged in pencil, water colors, and crayon. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded and $25 for Best of Show. All artists must bring their own easel. Antique Car Show Registration-sponsored by the Greenup Lions Club will take place in front of Greenup Chevrolet. The entry fee is $10. Trophies will be awarded to the Top 50 vehicles and Best of Show. Car plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. For more information call Jim Archey at 473-5568.

3rd Annual Free Health Fair sponsored by Greenup United Methodist Church Health Ministry. Free blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar checks; also screenings for circulation and osteoporosis; education on smoking cessation, cardiovascular disease, physical fitness, and more; Free Seasonal Flu Vaccine will be available in limited supply from 10am-2pm; Kentucky Organ Donation Affiliates (KODA) information and registry; free shoulder and foot massages provided by Collins Career Center massage therapy students, along with demonstrations from the Greenup County Health Dept. and Qualls Chiropractic. Door Prizes!

Entries Accepted for the Apple Pie Baking Contest-in the kitchen area of the Greenup County Courthouse. Pies will be judged on overall appearance, crust, flavor and texture. This contest is for adults aged 18 & up. First place will receive $25, second place $15 and third place will receive $10. Registration for the Sixth Annual American Classic Motorcycle Show-hosted by Light Bearers Ministries in the Greenup United Methodist Church parking lot on Main Street. The registration fee is $15 per motorcycle. The first 100 participants will receive a free TShirt. Trophies will be awarded for the following classes: American/Metric Cruiser, Touring, Trike, Sport, Custom, Vintage, Kids class 12 & under, and Peoples and Members Choice. Door Prizes!!

Tammy Jo's Studio award winning dancers will return to perform a variety of dance and tumbling routines.

Cornhole Tournament registration in the former Music Funeral Home parking lot. Please bring your own boards. $40 per team, double elimination. Cash prizes for top two teams based on number of teams entered. First place will receive 30% of the registration fees collected. Second place will receive 20%. Sponsored by the GCHS Dance Team. Old Fashion Days Fiddle Contest-open to all fiddle players in the area. Prize money will be given as follows: first place is $100, second place is $50 and third place is $25. All participants will be required to perform two pieces: Waltz & a tune of their choice. Contestants need to sign up in front of the Greenup County Extension office no later than 1:30pm. Old Fashion Days Shoot-Out (Part Two) the conclusion of the live western drama in front of the courthouse. This event is sponsored by Town Hill Motors.

Grand Parade begins to assemble on East Main Street between Greenup First Baptist Church and the Greenup County Fairgrounds. If you would like to be in the parade call Mattie Coldiron at 473-6371 or Joey Coldiron at 473-5823. Ribbons will be given to the top three floats. In order to be judged, floats must be decorated using some sort of theme.

Old Fashion Days Talent ShowThe youth division is open to ages 5 to 17 while the adult competition is open to those 18 and older. Grand Prize winner in each category will receive $500. The first place winner in each division will receive $200, second place $100 and third place $50. The entry fee is $25. Applications may be picked up at the Greenup County News-Times on Harrison Street in Greenup or call Stefanie Scott at 606-923-7920 to have an application mailed to you. Late entries may register at the OFD trailer beside the stage, before the contest, until 7:00pm on Saturday, October 3rd.
