Message from Greenup Old Fashion Days Committee
Greenup Old Fashion Days has been a tradition for 54 years. Though the support of businesses, families, and volunteers, this three day event has long been a tradition of fellowship, fun, and entertainment.
Some events have changed over the years, and some have remained the same. As with every year, we honor a Grand Marshal who deserves recognition for their accomplishments. This year we have selected Pastor Tom Melvin as the Grand Marshall for the 2019 Greenup Old Fashion Days.
Below you will find many events listed, please feel free to use the contact us page, if you have any questions!

2019 GRAND MARSHAL
GRAND
Marshal
Pastor Tom Melvin

Tom Melvin
DR. Thomas J. (Tommy) Melvin is a lifelong resident of Greenup County. Born and raised at Oldsteam along with 8 siblings to the parents of Rev. David and Lottie Melvin. Tommy is a graduate of Wurtland High School and is married to his high school sweetheart, Jeanette. He has one daughter Melissa, who is married to James Hutchinson. He is the proud grandfather of Miranda and Josie.
Dr. Melvin attended Boyce Bible College and Seminary Extension, (representing the 6 seminaries of the Southern Baptist Convention) with a degree in Pastoral Ministries. He received his Doctorate Degree in Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary in Camilla, Georgia in 1998
Accepting the call to preach in July 1978, his first pastorate was at Oldsteam Missionary Baptist Church. After serving there for 9 1/2 years, he was then called to Danelyton Baptist Church on Route 503 for 4 years then to Hyland Heights Baptist Church in Catlettsburg for 4 years. Then in 1997, he was called to Greenup First Baptist Church as the Pastor and is happily serving in his 22nd year as Shepard of the Flock.
Tom as served on several committees of the Greenup Baptist Association and the Kentucky Baptist Convention. On the local front, being a part of the Old Fashion Days Committee and the Greenup Police Department's shop with a Cop, are projects very near and dear to his heart.
One of the greatest honors bestowed to him is to be the Chaplain of the Greenup Fire Department. Serving alongside the brave men and women of our county during difficult situations such as fires and auto accidents, is truly a blessing. Lifting them up in prayer every day is a priority.
A fan of great western movies and the Andy Griffith Show, Tommy is a fan of simpler times, he says there is nothing better than fishing at a local pond with his wife and his dog Ginger.
